Non-Surgical Heart Treatment (EECP) to avoid Bypass Surgery and Angioplasty.

Synopsis

  • EECP can be provided for patients who have established heart disease and also for patients who wants to have better control over there cardiac risk factors like Diabetics and Hypertension.
  • EECP would be right treatment for those patients who doesn’t want to undergo invasive procedures.
  • For high risk patients and heart failure patients EECP treatment would be a best and only non-invasive option.

Who can undergo Vaso-Meditech EECP treatment?

EECP can be provided for patient who has established heart diseases or patient who want to have better control over their cardiac risk factors, this risk factor includes diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and also patient who are not willing to undergo an angiogram and further intervention procedure EECP act as a regular exercise it increases the blood flow to the heart muscle as what aggressive exercise can do. So it can also be taken by patients who cannot able to do exercise because of arthritis or old age or they cannot exercise because of their symptoms.

Many times patients do an angiogram because the symptoms are not controlled by medical management alone. After the angiogram the patient is suggested either bypass surgery or angioplasty and if the patient is not willing for these invasive and expensive therapies then EECP could be a good alternative. EECP improves the blood supply across the blocked arteries like an exercise benefits the patient. When the cardiologist, cardiothoracic surgeon looked at your angiogram they may say all the vessel cannot be grafted or stented in the sense if you have three or four lesions the interventional cardiologist or a cardiothoracic surgeons may give an opinion that only one or two vessels can be grafted or stented and other vessels can be left behind, what we called as a partial re-vascularization. It is not a complete attempt to address all the obstructions only couple of obstructions is addressed and other obstructions are left behind. In this instance rather than going for the bypass surgery and angioplasty, EECP could be a very effective and attractive alternative. EECP can improve the blood supply across all the coronary artery rather than focusing on a single vessel.

Another group of patients is after angiogram the interventional cardiologist may discuss with you and tell you that your case is a high-risk interventional procedure, such that high-risk for angioplasty or bypass surgery.  In this type of situation also EECP could be the best alternative for these patients. Finally there is another group of patient who are increasing across the nation because of the prevalence of diabetic and hypertension and non-adherence to the medical management because these patients even after undergoing an bypass surgery and angioplasty because of their poor lifestyle they may tend to get a graft occlusion or Restenosis, such  that the bypass graft which they have put it closed or the stent they have put  is closed. We call it as stent restenosis in the theses case repeating the procedure whether it is bypass or angioplasty, carry very high mortality or very high death rate. So in this group of patients, EECP would be a safe alternative to improve the blood circulation to the heart muscle without undergoing this expensive and high-risk procedure.

Finally, there is another group of patients who we call as heart failure because of the myocardial infarction or heart attack. Patients will tend to get drastically reduced pumping function. Once it is reduced carrying out any interventional procedure whether it is bypass or angioplasty involves very high risk and most physicians or an interventional cardiologist would try to avoid these patients for high-risk interventional procedures. Suggesting EECP treatment for these patients would definitely improve the quality of life, walking distance. So EECP is absolutely a non-invasive option for all these groups of patient and it can able to effectively relieve the symptom and put them back into the normal routine activity.
