Honourable Health Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr. C. Vijayabaskar officially launched the Enhanced External Counter Pulsation EECP program at Vellore Medical College Hospital, marking another important milestone in expanding access to advanced non invasive cardiac care in Tamil Nadu. The inauguration reflected the Governments continued commitment to improving healthcare services and making innovative heart treatments available to patients across the state.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Honourable Minister for Education Thiru K. C. Veeramani, Vellore District Collector Dr. R. Nandhagopal IAS, Director of Medical Education Dr. Geetha Lakshmi, Dean of Vellore Medical College Hospital Dr. Sathyathiya Munavasa, Chief Cardiologist Dr. Thirumal Badu, Assistant Professor of Cardiology Dr. Sababathy, along with several distinguished medical professionals and dignitaries.
The introduction of the EECP program at Vellore Medical College Hospital strengthened the availability of advanced non surgical treatment for heart disease. Enhanced External Counter Pulsation helps improve blood circulation to the heart, promotes the development of natural collateral blood vessels, and supports patients with coronary artery disease, chronic angina, and reduced blood flow to the heart. The launch highlighted the growing acceptance of EECP therapy as an effective option for eligible patients seeking modern, patient friendly cardiac care without invasive surgery.
EECP THERAPY uses a proprietary technology to inflate and deflate a series of pneumatic cuffs enclosing the lower extremities of the patients. Treatment is administered on a padded table in which three sets of electronically controlled inflation and deflation valves are located.
