EECP Awareness -TN Government and Central Government Employees

The EECP awareness program conducted in Chennai focused on educating Tamil Nadu Government and Central Government employees about cardiovascular disease prevention, early diagnosis and available treatment options. During the session, Dr. S. Ramasamy, Non-Invasive Cardiology and EECP Consultant, explained the importance of identifying cardiac risk factors and adopting preventive measures to reduce the burden of heart disease in India.

The meeting also highlighted the role of advanced non-invasive cardiac care available through specialized heart centers. Participants were educated about various treatment approaches for coronary artery disease, including lifestyle modification, medications, angioplasty, bypass surgery and Enhanced External Counter Pulsation (EECP) therapy. Understanding these treatment options helps patients make informed decisions in consultation with their healthcare providers.

Special emphasis was placed on the technology behind the modern EECP machine, which uses computerized ECG synchronization to improve blood circulation to the heart. The EECP machine works by applying controlled pressure through inflatable cuffs placed on the legs, helping increase blood flow and support the development of collateral circulation in eligible patients suffering from coronary artery disease and chronic stable angina.

As awareness of heart disease continues to grow, programs such as these play an important role in educating employees about preventive cardiology, early intervention and the availability of advanced treatment options through dedicated heart centers. The session encouraged participants to seek timely medical evaluation and understand the benefits and limitations of treatments ranging from medication and angioplasty to non-invasive EECP therapy.
