Vaso-Meditech CEO and Managing Director, Dr. S. Ramasamy, was invited as a Cardiac-EECP Expert by the Honorable President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee. During his visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan, Dr. Ramasamy explained the benefits of Enhanced External Counterpulsation therapy, a non-invasive treatment option for patients suffering from cardiovascular disease, one of the leading causes of mortality in India. The discussion focused on the growing role of advanced non-surgical cardiac therapies in improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
Dr. Ramasamy highlighted how Enhanced External Counterpulsation, also known as ECP (External Counter Pulsation), helps improve blood circulation to the heart without the need for surgery, anesthesia or prolonged hospitalization. The therapy has been used for selected patients with coronary artery disease, chronic stable angina and reduced blood flow to the heart, providing a safe and evidence-based treatment option under expert medical supervision.
Special emphasis was placed on the benefits of EECP therapy for heart failure, particularly for patients experiencing fatigue, breathlessness and reduced exercise tolerance. By enhancing blood flow and supporting the development of natural collateral circulation, EECP therapy for heart failure may help eligible patients improve their functional capacity and overall quality of life.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges faced by cardiac patients seeking affordable treatment options. Many patients today research the stent operation cost in India before making treatment decisions, prompting increased interest in non-invasive therapies such as EECP. While stenting and bypass surgery remain important treatment options in many cases, EECP offers an alternative approach for selected patients after appropriate cardiac evaluation.

EECP THERAPY uses a proprietary technology to inflate and deflate a series of pneumatic cuffs enclosing the lower extremities of the patients. Treatment is administered on a padded table in which three sets of electronically controlled inflation and deflation valves are located.
