Synopsis

When cardiac patients are recommended to go for any cardiac treatment procedure, there is always risk involved in it, whether it is angioplasty or bypass surgery.  If the benefit is higher than the risk with we call as a risk-benefit ratio than these patients are asked to accept the risk involved in that treatment procedure. When it comes to  EECP treatment here, there is an advantage because EECP treatment is absolutely non-invasive procedure, and it is an outpatient procedure that doesn't require the patient to be hospitalized.  So the risk involves in EECP is very less when compared to the other standard revascularization procedures like bypass surgery and angioplasty.

So what are the risk involved in the EECP?  They very simple like muscle spasm or skin irritation or skin abrasions,  these are all the common complication which encounter during EECP which can be easily taken care.  Some times in patient with severe left ventricular dysfunction or patient with heart failure, the treatment center should be well equipped because these patients may have a chance of developing what we call as pulmonary edema. It can happen in 5% of the cases so if the treatment centers are properly trained this will be easily avoided.  So, when compared to all cardiac treatment modality available EECP is a less risky and safest procedure available in the cardiology field.
